What a weekend for the West Coast Men’s Darts Association at the Darts Western Australian, State Teams Championships held on the 13 & 14 of April 2024.

Our Association nominated 2 teams for these Championships. The were;

Team No 1

Howard Jones, Tom Wiley (Capt), Carl Caton, David Platt, Shane Ashe and Roger Clinch.

Team No 2

Bob Glass, Matt Knight, John Donnelly (Capt), Dylan Walsh, Steve Palasin and Ricky Pickett Junior.

Team 1 were placed in Division 1 and our second team was placed in Division 2.

Our Division 1 team were undefeated all weekend. They won all 5 matches and secured the Gold Medal. This included a 10-1 win against the South Suburban Darts Association and a 6-5 win over Fremantle, two perennial medal winners over the last few years. Daivd Platt (New State Team Non Playing Captain) averaged 84.6, Carl Caton averaged 80.4, Howard Jones averaged 74.3 and Roger Clinch averaged 69.5 over the weekend. This culminated in Howard, Carl and Roger being selected in the State Squad. Congratulations to those 3 players and all team members for a fantastic weekend. Thank you to Anton Soc for scoring all weekend for our number 1 team.

Our Division 2 team lost their first 2 games 5-6. Both were winnable games. This team finished really strongly by winning their next 3 games to finish second to Kalgoorlie Boulder’s number 1 team and secure the Silver Medal. It should be noted that 4 Associations had their number 1 teams in the second Division! Matt knight averaged 65.8, Bob Glass averaged 65.3, and John Donnolly and Ricky Pickett Junior averaged 64.1 over the weekend. Well done to all players.
